Summary

The New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 2) will develop your language and communication skills at a low intermediate level. You will develop your English skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking to help you use and understand English for familiar situations at Wintec and in New Zealand. You will develop your fluency and accuracy and begin to communicate using connected and more complex ideas. You will also develop your face-to-face and online learning study skills.

Career/Further Opportunities

Holders of this certificate will have the English language skills to work in positions that require:

• Participation in simple face to face interpersonal communication
• Response to simple spoken and written instructions and informational texts
• Production of simple written texts relevant to the workplace

This certificate builds on the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 1) and can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (General) (Level 3).

Entry criteria

Selection Criteria

a) Candidates must be 16 years or older.

b) Candidates must have achieved NZCEL (Level 1)

c) Candidates must take part in a selection interview and will be required to take a placement test to determine their current English Language level and learning goals.

d) Candidates must demonstrate a reasonable chance of success in the programme.

English Language Requirements

Placement in this programme will be determined by the Centre for Languages Placement Test according to language proficiency.
